Poll: Do you think the state pension should be increased?

Fianna Fáil wants a €5 increase for pensioners in the next Budget.

RECENTLY, FINE GAEL and Fianna Fáil have been at loggerheads over whether there should be an increase in the state pension in the Budget this October.

Writing in the Sunday Independent today, Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea hit out at the Minister for Public Expenditure, Paschal Donohoe for arguing against the proposal of a €5 increase on the €233 per week.

Donohoe said all the promises in the programme for government cannot be delivered in the very first Budget.

O’Dea writes today that a €5 increase is a “fair and proportionate” rise.

What do you think? Is it time for an increase?
