Permanent TSB offers 10 per cent tracker mortgage discount

Borrowers who make higher repayments will be eligible for the new scheme, which is being confirmed today.

HOMEOWNERS WHO HOLD tracker mortgages with Permanent TSB who agree to increase the value of their monthly payments are to receive a ten per cent discount off the total value of their mortgages.

The new scheme is being launched today in an effort to incentivise mortage holders to pay off their loans more quickly. RTE reports that the offer is open to those who hold residential, investment and commercial tracker mortgages, but additional lump sum payments of €5,000, or multiples of €5,000 must be made.

The scheme will run until 17 June, but there is a limit of €500 million.

Customers who are in arrears will also be eligible, although the ten per cent bonus will only apply once the arrears have been cleared.

It was originally thought that the discount would be in the region of five per cent.
