THIS WAS THE scene in a back garden in western England today, after a light aircraft crashed into its back garden – miraculously, without causing any injuries.
The plane’s 76-year-old pilot deployed a full-plane parachute after his two-seater aircraft veered out of control, heading it in the direction of a line of semi-detached homes in Cheltenham.
The Daily Telegraph said the plane landed in the back garden of 64-year-old busdriver Fred Greeff, who said he was “too shocked to move” as he saw the aircraft careering towards his home.
Witnesses said the pilot walked away from the wreckage after shutting off the plane’s fuel. It appeared as if he had deliberately tried to steer the aircraft away from any homes.
