Rare childhood photos of Queen Elizabeth released ahead of 90th birthday gala

The British monarch has reigned for over six decades.

RARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF Queen Elizabeth as a child have been released ahead of celebrations to mark the British monarch’s 90th birthday.

One of the black and white images shows a young Princess Elizabeth looking at a bird on her arm, while the other shows her about to go for a swim with her father George VI.

Queen Elizabeth celebrated the milestone birthday last month.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, known as Lilibet, was born on 21 April 1926. She has reigned for 64 years, during which time the British empire has changed dramatically.

A gala show to mark her birthday is due to take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle tomorrow.

Ant and Dec will host the programme, which will air on ITV at 8.35pm tomorrow.
