POLAND SAID TWO Belarusian helicopters violated its airspace today and announced it would ramp up military deployments on its eastern border in reaction to the incident.
“There was a violation of Polish airspace by two Belarusian helicopters that were training near the border,” the Polish defence ministry said in a statement.
Earlier today, Poland’s army said the helicopters had not violated the NATO country’s airspace, but it later backtracked in a subsequent statement.
“The violation took place in the Bialowieza area at a very low altitude, hampering the detection by radar systems,” the ministry said in explanation.
It added that “NATO was notified about the incident”.

It also said the defence minister ordered an increase of the number of soldiers at the Belarusian border, citing intensified “hybrid actions” by Russia and Belarus against Poland.
Poland and its neighbours on NATO’s eastern flank have voiced concerns about a potential threat from Belarus which now hosts the Wagner mercenary group.
On Saturday, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said a group of “one hundred Wagner mercenaries” in Belarus had moved closer to the Polish border.
Morawiecki called it “a step towards further hybrid attack on the Polish territory”.
“They will probably be disguised as Belarusian border guards, helping illegal migrants to cross into Polish territory, to destabilise Poland,” Morawiecki said.

@Ollie Fitzpatrick: It’s all part of the plan Ollie. Belarus will launch an all out attack on Poland taking it quickly dragging NATO into a long war to get it back .
@Roy Dowling: how exactly would Belarus take Poland at all, never mind quickly? Poland would annihilate Belarus, and would do so without needing assistance from their NATO allies.
@Ignatius J Reilly: it wouldn’t, it would play out exactly how you said, yet somehow my bud Ollie thinks Belarus is testing the waters for an invasion of Poland. So I thought id have a little fun
@Roy Dowling: Russia can’t even defeat Ukraine.. can you imagine how long an all out war with NATO would last.. long war ? Hilarious… and Belarus? Even funnier..
Tiny Finland alone killed a quarter of a million Russians in the Winter war.. Belarus attack Poland ? The Eu has around 2 million active service personnel plus 750,000 americans.. well trained and organised, unlike Russia and Belarus.. stop reading Russian Mass Media sunshine or twaddle on the web..
.
@John Bathe: No Idea. But if I had to guess I’d say it was a mistake. Just like when Poland sorta invaded the Czech Republic during COVID when it mistook the border and set up blocks in the Czech Republic and stopped their people going to church.
@Roy Dowling: rubbish! Poland has one of the largest and strongest armies in Europe. The Belarus army is even worse than the Russians, poorly trained, badly equipped and zero morale. Even with the help of Wagner, the Poles would be occupying Minsk within a week. Almost make you wish they’d give it a try…..
Someone should tell Lukashenko that the Polish Army is the wrong outfit to mess with. Highly trained, very well equipped, & motivated, with history watching very closely.
Stay at home Vlads poodle. You don’t want any of this.
@Opinion is free but facts are sacred: it’s not a war, it is a fight back against attempted annihilation. As for the Poles, they know all about soviet influence. Martial law is fresh in their memories I would say. But I suppose you were against solidarity too.
@Chief Of police Retired – Truther MAGA Trump 2024: at the same time Russians stealing top US secret documents. However stop worshipping your master trump as he will be grilled soon.
@james rowan: WANKA 2024 and all the rest of the little people who keep billionaires in the style they have become accustomed to. I never understood the respect people have for the rich. Though I do understand the rich loving the poor who have made and who keep them rich. Did somebody mention ‘thinking’ here? Must have missed it.
@Chief Of police Retired – Truther MAGA Trump 2024: Yes, hundreds of thousands of soldiers would still be alive, and no inflation and cheap energy, but hey Trump is rude, and Biden is one of our own.
@Chief Of police Retired – Truther MAGA Trump 2024: That was some good improv comedy, you have potential, try out some comedy clubs and make a name for yourself, I’ll back you.
@Roy Dowling: I studiously avoid interacting with your ever increasing inanities, but in this instance I’ll make an exception.
This history is quite recent , (particularly today on the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising – an event that claimed 250,000 Polish lives when Nazis slaughtered men women and children while Russia held back their military to allow the Nazis time to finish their work and make a Russian takeover easier) and informs Polish military preparedness today. Ask any Pole you know about their views on what happened their country during ww2.
Or try a gag about popcorn. Let me know how it goes
I will return to scrolling past your gibberish as usual.
@opinion is etc.: As I said, ask any Polish person about their view of WW2 and its influence on their current military preparedness.
I, like many others, use the phrase to show support for Post Soviet Ukraine and its fight for democracy and against Putins murderous invasion. You can interpret it in any way you like, that’s for you to decide.
I’ll keep saying Slava Ukraini until Russia has left Ukraine entirely.
@Gary Kearney: Yes the Gary Kearney. We must label and then cast aside any information that points to the truth and reprimand those who spread such lies as articles published by Human Rights Watch circa 2014.. titled “Ukraine: Widespread Use of Cluster Munitions”
All this talk about Poles in WW2 is nothing but the usual revisionism nonsense. I G Farben who made the Zyklon B gas for the concentration camps in Poland was full of Polish workers who only after the war ended said they didn’t want to work there even though they were treated as civilian workers by the Nazis and were not prisoners. 8000 worked for IG Farben alone. Only a few of these numbers were forced labourers. Poland ran with the hare and chased with the hound when it suited them.
@The Irish love this shy….: “In 1944, there were as many as 30,000 people working at the construction site of I.G. Farben (I.G. Auschwitz). Besides the concentration camp prisoners, who numbered as many as 10,000, and the so-called foreign workers (Fremdarbeiter), the workforce included employees of I.G. Farben and of German and foreign subcontractors hired by the firm.”. It was NOT full of Polish workers. Cut out YOUR revisionism nonsense! The Polish had an awful time under the Nazis and an even worse time under your Russian idols…..comrade!
@Paul Furey: Sorry Mickilín McNato, my numbers are correct as per Polish sources, close to 8000 Polish workers who were not forced workers working for the Nazis for I.G Farben making Auschwitz killing gas, and were free to leave but they chose to help their own Nazi masters in Poland, on their own soil murdering Jews. Maybe I touched a nerve? Not as much as your Polish buddies in IG Farben/Auschwitz did with their murdering gas. No revisionism McNato, it just doesn’t fit your usual narrative here, a load of mumbling polaks.
@The Irish love this shy….: Thank you for your made up hateful opinion of Polish people and WW2. It’s Wrong! Your info is made up of nonsense according to historical primary sources. Zyklon B was not manufactured at IG Farben Auschwitz. The plant produced synthetic fuel and rubber. The Poles were classed as Untermench by the Nazi’s whose policies resulted in the death of 6 million Polish citizens. The Polish workers had very restricted freedoms at I G Farben. I can quote many sources including Auschwitz official site. A History of Bayer 1866-1983 & KL A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps by N Wachsmann.
Context: The people of Eastern Europe were forced to make many compromises in order to survive during the 20th century. A logical decision made one day could result in death the next day. People were forced to endure a number of brutal merciless regimes. The decision some of them to survive and protect their families cannot be judged out of context. It seems that you are the one making up counterfactual narratives here.
It is highly unlikely Belarus violated Polish airspace.
“The violation took place in the Bialowieza area at a very low altitude, hampering the detection by radar systems,” the (Polish) ministry said in explanation.
In other words, the Poles have no decent evidence to back up their assertion.
@Gary Kearney: He read the article. Clearly you didn’t. It’s what the Polish military said. The also said at first no incursion happened, then they came out and said it did. So it’s clear from reading the whole article(you should try it once) alone Poland isn’t 100% sure what happened
A load of polaks. The amount of times British soldiers in South Armagh blamed the bog for moving when they found themselves in Monaghan. Same with the Poles who’ll get their knickers in a twist because the Americans tell them how to feel about it. Perhaps the thousands of Poles here might consider returning as it’s hotting up in Western Ukraine never mind Belarus. Time to go lads.
@The journal: Can one of you “journalists” please explain the incredible amount of deleted comments that do not go against any guidelines, don’t have insults or profanity just outlining a opinion held by vast amounts of people. Why are you trying to suppress opinions on here? Are you people scared of the public debating issues and challenging your narrative?
@I9AQcjXs: What’s worse is that they leave up the usual imbecilic contributors repeating the same oul US good/Russia bad BS. It’s like watching a poor Gaa match with red necks shouting from the sidelines and a ref appointed by Paddy Power.
The Stale Prince of Belarus has always been a corrupt and subservient client of an even more corrupt Kremlin.
Catherine Belton in an excellent book about Putin, recalled the story of how he threatened to cut off the gas supply to Belarus at a time the temperature there was -26°C.
Next time the Auks from Mordor threaten free lands with their helicopters, just shoot them out of the sky.
Those guys sadly don’t understand any other language.
Belarus has provided Poland with detailed evidence of the routine and proximity of their aircraft to the Polish border where there was no incursion onto Polish territory while one of their fighter jets came within 200m of the Belarus border on the same day.
