Poll: Are you prepared for winter weather?

Snow or rain? Are you prepared?

2010 BROUGHT THE Big Freeze but last year was much milder by comparison.

Speaking at the launch of the Government’s Winter-Ready campaign, Minister Alan Shatter said the State is prepared for “unpredictable” weather and ensured there will be no repeat of 2010 when authorities ran out of grit, causing health and safety risks.

Salt will be available if it snows, while plans are in place for other possible emergencies such as flooding.

Last year, many people decided to take it on themselves to ensure their houses, cars – and their own persons – were better prepared for harsh conditions.

Snow tyres, ice grips and sand bags are just some of the things that see a spike in sales during the winter months.

So, if the extreme weather – be it heavy rain or prolonged snow and ice – returns this year, are you ready?

Poll Results:

No (959)
Not really, but I'm more prepared than in 2010 (739)
I don't know (544)
