Poll: Bailout or default?

Ireland agreed to a multibillion euro bailout over the weekend – but should we have taken the default option and left the euro? Have your say.

ACCORDING TO SOME reports, Ireland came very close to taking the default option over the weekend – however the country instead agreed to a 5.8 per cent interest rate in exchange for a bailout.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen said last night that leaving the eurozone was not an option, but what do you think? Should we have defaulted on our banking debts and left the euro, or was taking the bailout the most sensible option - and which is Ireland’s best option for the future?

Poll Results:

Default and leave the euro (403)
Take the bailout (136)
