Poll: Is it time to revamp the way we elect TDs?

Time for a shake-up?

FINE GAEL TD Brendan Griffin wants to change the way Ireland elects TDs.

He says that the proportional representation system rewards “parish pump politics” and distracts from the business of running a country.

It would mean just one TD is elected from 157 constituencies. But, is he right? Is the alternative vote (AV) system better?

Or are we stronger as a nation with minority voices being heard?

We’re asking: Is it time to revamp the way we elect TDs?

Poll Results:

Yes (1939)
Yes - but not with AV (1101)
No (706)
I don't know (275)
