Poll: Are you happy with the name of the new children's hospital?

Once it’s opened the hospital will be called the Phoenix Children’s Health.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS announced the name of the new national children’s hospital being built at the St James’s Hospital Campus on the outskirts of Dublin city centre.

Once it’s opened the hospital will be called the Phoenix Children’s Health, but some people aren’t happy about it.

The government came in for criticism over the weekend after it was revealed by the Sunday Times that the board of the new hospital were challenging three fire safety conditions contained in its planning permission.

UCD professor John Crown criticised the new name on Twitter last night, saying: “Not a joke! Children’s Hospital which wants derogation from sprinkler requirement to be named Phoenix.”

In a statement, the Department of Health said that the name “symbolises the birth of new opportunities”.

We want to know: Are you happy with the name of the new children’s hospital?
