Poll: Do you request generic drugs?

A new report has said that Irish people and the Irish State are not saving as much as they should by using generic drugs.

NEW RESEARCH BY the ESRI has revealed that the availability of generic drugs in Ireland has not led to any substantial savings for cash-paying patients or the State.

The report found that when prescribers in Ireland have a choice between different medicines within the same therapeutic sub-group, they tend to select the most expensive.

However, patients can request the generic version of the medicine from their doctor to keep costs lower if they wish.

Today we are asking if you avail of that option. When you visit the doctor, do you request generic drugs?
