Poll: Should people be charged for their recycling?

The Department of the Environment says the new system will actually save people money.

THERE HAVE BEEN criticisms in recent days of a plan to charge people for recycling in a pay-by-weight system.

The Department of the Environment claims almost 90% of households will see reductions in their waste bills as a result of the new system.

However the Green Party said the charges have the potential to “threaten the community goodwill towards recycling” and People Before Profit described it as “environmental sabotage”.

Sinn Féin has also tabled a motion in the Dáil to stop the imposition of green bin waste charges, which is says will discourage recycling of household waste.

We want to know what you think: Should people be charged for their recycling?
