Poll: Should the government give financial support to Irish bands?

TD Mick Wallace says they need more support so they’re not relying on the dole.

INDEPENDENT TD MICK Wallace has said the government needs to do more to help Irish bands so they don’t have to rely on the dole.

He suggested recommendations made by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) of investment in business training and financial support should be considered. Arts Minister Heather Humphreys has said there was already a 25% increase in the income ceiling for artists’ tax exemption but Wallace says this only helps musicians who are already established.
