Poll: Which would you prefer - no water charges or keep Budget boosts?

A note to Fine Gael says that to avoid an income tax hike if water charges were scrapped, the Budget benefits would have to go.

A LETTER FROM Fine Gael to TDs told them that if water charges are scrapped, Budget boosts – including increases in welfare spending and income tax cuts - would have to be reversed.

In the letter, seen by Today FM, it says that the only way to avoid a 4% income tax increase if water charges were scrapped would be to reverse Budget measures, with specific mention of the child benefit increase.

Enda Kenny had previously said that it was either water charges, a 4% tax increase, or boiling water for decades.

What do you think: Which would you prefer – no water charges or keep the Budget boost?

Poll Results:

No water charges, lose Budget boosts (6069)
Keep Budget boosts, pay water charges (2125)
I don't know (669)

Due to some confusion over our earlier question, we’ve now revised it.
