Poll: Will you apply for a ticket to see the Pope's Mass in the Phoenix Park?

Tickets will be free of charge when they become available.

IT WAS ANNOUNCED yesterday that over 500,000 tickets will be made available for Pope Francis’ Mass at the Phoenix Park and at Knock this August.

Tickets will be free of charge when they become available.

However, those who are really keen to ensure they will be there on the day have options.

Access to the venues which Pope Francis will visit will be heavily restricted, with crowds limited to 600,000 in the Phoenix Park.

This will contrast with the one million people who attended the visit of Pope John Paul II in the Phoenix Park in 1979, with Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin referencing “health and safety” as the reason for the restrictions.

So, will you be getting a ticket?

Today we’re asking: Will you apply for a ticket to see the Pope’s Mass in the Phoenix Park?

Poll Results:

No (11148)
Yes (2979)
Don't know (755)

    @Larry Roe: because I genuinely want to be able to recognize the man if I see him. Why on earth would the photo not be important?

    I wonder whether he’s related to the marvelous Latvian film director Leonids Leimanis.

    Hope the bloke is found or turns up. Latvia’s a fabulous country.

    @Pl Ster:

    I do realise that, yes. What prompted my off-hand remark is the fact that the romantic lead played by Uldis Pucitis in Leimanis’ 1966 masterpiece ‘Purva bridejs’ / ‘Wading the Bog’ is actually named Edgars.

    It perhaps was a silly and unnecessary piece of conjecture on my part. Whether or not he’s the descendant of a famous film-maker, let’s hope for a happy outcome to this story.
