Poll: Should schools be allowed give preference to children of past pupils?

New legislation on school admissions policies will be published today.

NEW RULES ARE being proposed that would see just 10% of school places allowed to be allocated for the children of past pupils.

The details will be announced by the Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan at the INTO conference later today.

The measures which would see the phasing out of waiting lists are expected to receive a mixed reaction.

So today we’re asking, Do you think schools should be allowed to give preference to the children of past pupils?

Poll Results:

Yes (4300)
No (2654)
A certain percentage (1893)
I don't know (237)
