Poll: Should city streets be pedestrianised at weekends?

Dublin is planning to go car-free for one Sunday a month, but should other cities follow suit?

PLANS TO MAKE parts of central Dublin car-free on one Sunday a month were revealed yesterday, to a mixed response.

The plan will see areas around Henry St closed to cars, while the major city artery of Westmoreland St has also been mooted.

Dublin Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn says that there is an “overwhelming call for pedestrianisation” and that the plan would help link the city on busier shopping days.

However, some are worried it would cause unnecessary gridlock around the city.

We’re asking: Should city streets be pedestrianised at weekends?

Poll Results:

No (1761)
Yes (1477)
I don't know (730)
