Poll: Should we scrap the Seanad entirely?

There could be a referendum on the way to scrap the upper house of the OIreachtas. What’s your opinion on it?

THE GOVERNMENT has admitted that it is considering holding a referendum on election day, where voters would be asked if they wanted to abolish the Seanad, the low-profile upper house of the Oireachtas.

Fine Gael and Labour have both already called for the body to be scrapped, but many feel that the Seanad still has a use as long as it is reformed appropriately.

Today we ask you: Should the Seanad be scrapped, reformed, or kept exactly as it is?

Poll Results:

Scrap it (442)
Reform it (403)
Keep it as it is (20)
