Motor Envy: The Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is a luxury sports car that you can plug in

The Panamera S E-Hybrid is Porsche’s first plug-in hybrid.

What’s this then?

This is the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, the first plug-in hybrid car from the German carmaker. This particular model can be yours for €78,995.

What’s so special about it?

The Porsche Panamera is sporty as well as practical: a sports car and luxury saloon all rolled up in one slinky package.

Any standout design features?

The Porsche Panamera looks slinky but it is rather spacious inside thanks to some clever design. The saloon looks sporty and athletic with a taut roof line that makes it appear more like a two-seater but once inside you’ll see that it is a four-seater and the boot can hold a generous amount of cargo.

And what powers this Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid?

Underneath that lovely long bonnet is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine plus an electric motor. The combined power output of the two is 416hp.

Does the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid have any luxurious touches?

This particular example certainly does. The exterior is pimped out with 20-inch Panamera sport wheels finished in high gloss black with funky acid green brake callipers. There’s also some quad exhausts around the back and the rear windows get privacy glass.

The interior has black leather sports seats which are heated and electronically adjustable. Matching this is the gloss black interior trim with brushed aluminium accents.

Safety features include Porsche stability management, Xenon headlights, air suspension, an electric boot opening, parking assist, cruise control, satellite navigation, reversing camera, heated rear seats and an automatic boot spoiler.

But who would drive this car?

Those who want a seriously sporty car but also have a family to think about so need something that is practical too. This car is also great for those who want to keep running costs low thanks to its fairly economical fuel consumption.
