Dublin drivers warned of smoke from gorse fires affecting visibility

Dublin Fire Brigade is responding to two fires – one in Coolock and another in Sandyford.

DRIVERS HAVE BEEN warned of smoke from a number of fires affecting visibility on the roads.

Earlier this afternoon, Dublin Fire Brigade was called to grass on fire on Oscar Traynor Road in Coolock. The fire service is still at the scene.

“Avoid this area! Smoke is affecting visibility in the whole area,” the fire service said on Twitter.

The fire service is also responding to gorse on fire in Blackglen Road in Sandyford, at the edge of the Dublin mountains.

A fourth fire engine has now been sent to this blaze and drivers have been warned Barnacullia Road is partially blocked and should be avoided.
