Three raiders escape after armed robbery of Athy post office

Two men hijacked a vehicle while the third man fled on a motorcycle.

THREE MEN ESCAPED after an armed robbery of a post office in Athy today. The incident is believed to have occurred at 9.45am.

Two men entered the post office, one man was armed and demanded cash. Another man waited outside the post office on a motorcycle.

Once they had obtained an unknown amount of cash, the two men left the post office and hijacked a gold Peugeot 307 with the licence plate beginning with 07 KE.

The vehicle was seen travelling towards Kilkenny Road.

The other man fled the scene on the motor bike. The post office is currently closed following the robbery.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Athy Garda Station.
