ESB Networks confirmed earlier they were aware of a fault in the Dublin 2 area and were working to restore the power.

Stores, restaurants and other businesses around Grafton Street were forced to ask customers to leave and shut their doors until the issue could be resolved.

The outage also extended to the Dáil and Seanad in Leinster House on Kildare Street where power was cutting in and out for a brief period this afternoon. Business continued unaffected.

The power cut is believed to have only affected a small area in the city, though many popular businesses were affected.

The power has, in the last few minutes, been restored, with shops like Brown Thomas now eager to catch up on any business they lost while the store was in darkness:

Power to customers in the Lusk and Swords areas should now also be restored after an earlier fault.
