Police hunt for second man who stamped on pregnant woman's stomach

One week on from the vicious attack, police said someone is “harbouring a very violent individual”.

ONE WEEK ON from a brutal attack on a young pregnant woman, police in London are searching for the second man involved in the assault.

The 21-year-old woman was attacked by two men while she was walking in Peckham last Monday evening. The men, who were wearing motorbike helmets, pushed her to the ground and continually kicked and stamped on her stomach before running off.

She was 32 weeks pregnant at the time and was rushed to hospital but her unborn child could not be saved. A 20-year-old man, reported to be the woman’s ex-boyfriend, was subsequently arrested and appeared in court last week charged in connection with the incident.

However police are still seeking the other man, aged in his 20s. Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Robert Pack described the incident as a “vile attack” and urged anyone with information about it to contact them.

“A week has passed and the true horror of the incident should have sunk in. Someone is harbouring a very violent individual and that person does not deserve their protection,” he said.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
