Price Comparison: What can I get for €380k or under in Co Laois?

Make a move to one of these picks in the midlands.

IN THE CURRENT property market, it’s tough to get a sense of what exactly your money is worth, so we’re here to make things a little easier.

Each week, we pick four homes within a similar budget in one location, to give you a better idea of the property landscape at a set price point.

This week, we’re looking at properties around Laois with an asking price of €380k and under.

Four-bed, detached, Crettyard – €345,000

2 Miner’s Walk is a well-located family home that’s filled with great finishes inside, from wooden and tiled flooring to detailed woodwork and custom steelwork. Mainly open plan in layout, this is a cosy home that’s a generous 190 m² in size and has oil-fired central heating, double glazed windows and hardwood floors. An ideal countryside location yet close to everything, the house is a minute’s walk from a school and about 15-minute drives to Athy or Carlow if the train to Dublin beckons.

This three-bed bungalow in Portarlington sits on 0.7 acres and includes a garage that could be converted in 130 m² inside isn’t enough. Inside comprises an entrance hall, kitchen and dining area, a separate utility room and two living rooms. One of the three bedrooms is en suite while the other two share the family bathroom. 

From the kitchen, French doors lead to the south-facing garden and there’s plenty of parking to the front. The house is already alarmed and in terms of location, a few minutes in the car will bring you to Portarlington town, which has a train station and plenty of amenities on hand.
