Primark's new store in Pennsylvania Primark

Primark opens fifth US-based store in less than a year

Two new stores opened in the past week will create more than 500 new jobs.

IRISH RETAILER PRIMARK has opened its fifth US store in less than 12 months.

Since opening its first store in Boston last September the budget clothes store – which trades in Ireland under the name Penneys – has opened further branches across the north east of the country.

In the past week it has opened two new stores: one on Willow Grove Park Mall in Pennsylvania, which opened its doors earlier today, and another at the Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey.

It seems that the new stores have the edge of their Irish cousins when it comes to their upmarket finish.

Included in both is free Wi-Fi, a ‘trend room’, and what the company describes as “recharge seating areas”.

Between the two stores more than 500 jobs will be created.

Speaking about the openings, the company’s chief executive Paul Marchant said:

We are pleased to open our fourth and fifth stores in the U.S. as we continue to receive extremely positive customer feedback during this time of growth in the northeast.  These openings mark another important milestone in raising awareness of Primark’s unique formula of amazing Fashion, amazing Prices.

Primark US rollout will see it open five more stores in the country’s northeast in the near future.
