What else could I get for the…€2.25 million pricetag on this Victorian manor

We take a look at what €2.25 million would get you around the rest of the country.

WHILE THIS HOUSE is just a short drive from Dublin – it’s a bit bigger than a lot of family homes in the commuter belt.

‘Netterville Manor’ - situated in Navan, Co Meath – is marketed as a wedding location and the size and stature of the property makes it easy to see why.

With six bedrooms and five bathrooms, the home maintains much of its Victorian-era charm while being kept in good condition. The house looks out on the Boyne Valley and has undergone extensive renovation work over the past decade.

Interestingly it is the birthplace of John Boyle O’Reilly, a notable 19th century poet and journalist. He spent the second half of his life in the United States as the editor of newspaper ‘The Pilot’. There is a statue commemorating O’Reilly in Boston.

The house (not the statue) is on the market for €2.25 million.

‘Capilano’ in Sandyford is on the market for €2.25 million, the same price as Netterville Manor in Navan. It has more than 4,000 sq. ft. of floor space and has been extended and upgraded by the current owners. Outside, the home has 2.5 acres of its own land, a feature which is said to offer “all the benefits of country life”.

The house is a short drive from the M50 and is well connected to the centre of Dublin via a number of local bus routes. It is also near to Dundrum town centre.

While ‘Ardfry House’ has a similar air of grandeur to the Victorian manor in Navan, it is a long way off being in liveable condition. The moated building dates to the 9th Century and is set to go on auction for a reserve not to exceed €2 million.

The total area of the site is 28.8 acres in total. Within this are included several stone cottages, a walled orchard and the main castle itself which has more than 16,000 sq. ft. of floor space. It is a short distance from the town of Oranmore.

Why buy one house when you could buy an entire row of them? This grouping of six properties on Eastmoreland Lane, Ballsbridge is on the market for €2 million. The homes are said to be a two-minute walk from Upper Baggot Street.

These properties would require an extensive amount of renovation – but could potentially provide a rich stream of rental revenue once complete. The floor space in the houses ranges from 590 sq. ft. to almost 700 sq. ft. The properties come with their own parking spaces.
