PSNI arrest woman in connection with Jean McConville murder

The arrest was made earlier this morning in west Belfast.

POLICE INVESTIGATING THE 1972 murder of Jean McConville have arrested a 57-year-old woman.

The arrest was made earlier this morning in west Belfast.

37-year-old McConville, a widow and mother of 10 children, was abducted in December 1972 from her flat in the Divis area of west Belfast and shot by the IRA.

Her body was recovered on a beach in Co Louth in August 2003.

Former IRA commander Ivor Bell was charged with aiding and abetting the murder. He’s due in court again next month.

A 57-year-old woman and 56-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder was released without charge last week.
