Five charged with attempting to set fire to police officers' homes

The alleged attempted arson attacks took place in Counties Down and Armagh last April and July.

FOUR MEN AND a woman have been charged in connection with a series of arson attempts at the homes of PSNI officers.

The incidents happened at the homes in Banbridge, Gilford, and Portadown in Counties Down and Armagh in April and July of last year.

The four men, aged 17, 20, 36, and 51, and the woman who is aged 21, have been charged with a number of offences including conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to cause an explosion, and a number of drugs-related offences.

The will appear at Craigavon Magisrates Court this morning.

Two further women, aged 27 and 42, have also been charged with drugs-related offences and will appear at court in Craigavon on 22 March. Two other men, aged 26 and 41, remain in custody.

The nine were first arrested yesterday morning following a number of searches of properties in the greater Craigavon area.
