Police given extra time to question McConville suspect

The 77-year-old can be questioned until tomorrow night.

PSNI DETECTIVES HAVE been given until tomorrow night to question a 77-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Jean McConville.

Detectives in the Serious Crime Branch have been given until tomorrow night to continue interviewing the suspect at Antrim police station.

McConville, a widow and mother of 10 children, was 37 when she wasabducted in December 1972 from her flat in the Divis area of west Belfast and shot by the IRA.

Her body was recovered more than 30 years later on a beach in Co Louth in August 2003.
