This pumpkin patch located near Dublin is a must-visit for all the family

An autumnal adventure you don’t want to miss.

BEFORE WE’RE INUNDATED with Christmas carols and Santa wish-lists, we’re committed to enjoying the festive feeling of autumn in all its glory. And what better way to celebrate this gloriously cosy time of year than a visit to a local pumpkin patch? That’s exactly what we did – setting off from Dublin to Ballymad Farm, located in the Boyne Valley region of County Meath.

Just a twenty five minute journey by car from North County Dublin, Ballymad farm has everything you need for a jam-packed, family friendly, autumnal adventure and it’s also perfect for toddlers that have a lot of energy to burn. Whether it’s to showcase your carving abilities or make a pumpkin pie to beat the band, you won’t be disappointed after a trip to Ballymad.

We were welcomed to the farm by the Toner family, generational farmers who believe in innovation that has helped bring their farm on a journey from dairy to vegetable and cut flower production, right through to the current  ‘pick your own’ events that we attended.

Having grown pumpkins for a number of years, Gerard and Sarah (the current Toner generation) opened the farm gates in 2022 to the public with Piltown Pumpkin Patch . Now a yearly event, the farm has a dedicated car park, woodland walk, delectable coffee and hot chocolate treats, and of course some Halloween themed photo-opportunities that can’t be missed.

Ballymad Farm opened its first maize maze to the public back in 2023, and the first Pick Your Own sunflower event happened this past summer. Although the pumpkin patch events do sell out quick, it’s important to note that this farm is open throughout the year with seasonal produce available and other events on offer.

With some Halloween themed photo opportunities, a not-so-spooky woodland walk, and plenty of pumpkins to choose from this day out is guaranteed fun for all the family.
