QUIZ: How Many Of These Words Are You Saying Correctly?

First up… GIF.

COMING FROM THE land of Meadhbh, Clíodhna and Fiachra, here in Ireland we have plenty of experience with tough-to-pronounce words.

But there are still a few phrases and terms that were clearly sent to test us.  In new research by Huawei, Irish respondents voted ‘GIF’, ‘meme’ and ‘quinoa’ as the top three hardest-to-pronounce words in everyday conversation.

And Huawei itself was voted the most commonly mispronounced brand name, with 29% of Irish participants admitting they had no idea how to say it (‘wah-wey’, since you asked).

So how well do you know the dictionary’s most complicated words? To figure out where you stand – and lord it over your peers when you finally realise what the correct pronunciation is – we’ve put together a little quiz.

Try out your skills below…

As the world’s largest smartphone brand, with the world’s trickiest to pronounce name, Huawei can relate to anyone who struggles to say “meme”. Or “quinoa”. The all-new Huawei Mate 20 Pro is available now at Vodafone Ireland, Three Ireland, Carphone Warehouse and Harvey Norman. And one more reminder… it’s “wah-wey”.
