THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT yet another international country music star would be playing huge, sold-out concerts in Ireland has once again shown how popular the genre is here.

Luke Combs is set to play two back-to-back gigs at Slane Castle next summer, becoming only the second act to ever do so after U2 became the first in 2001.

And another star of the American country scene, Garth Brooks, played five nights at Croke Park in 2022.
