Three men have been arrested but gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

FOUR MASKED MEN tied up two staff at a hotel in Athy, Kildare in the early hours of this morning.

The raiders were armed with hammers and ransacked the reception area and offices of the hotel on the Dublin road.

They entered the hotel at around 5am and left shortly after 7 with an undisclosed amount of cash.

They made their getaway in a red Peugeot 206 which was stolen from the car park of the hotel.

At approximately 7.50am a car was reported to be on fire near the exit to Kill near Goffs on the M7 motorway, gardaí say this car is also believed to have been involved in the earlier incident.

In a follow up operation gardaí arrested three men aged 28, 40 and 41 in Kill, Co Kildare in connection with the aggravated burglary. All three men are being held at Naas Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for information. They are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident at the hotel or who saw anything suspicious on the M7 where the burnt out car was located to contact Naas Garda Station on 045-884300, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
