Rebrand complete: National Irish Bank disappears

Danske has shut the bank’s branch network in order to cut costs and redirect focus.

ALL VISIBLE SIGNS of the National Irish Bank will vanish from today as Danske completes a rebrand of its Irish operations.

National Irish Bank will now function solely under the Danske Bank brand, a move which the institution says provides evidence of its dedication to ongoing investment in Ireland.

It has also completed a “significant restructure of its Irish business from a traditional retail bank to a specialised bank focussing on corporate and private clients”.

Personal customers will now be offered an online and telephone service after the bank’s 27-branch network was shut last week. Advisory centres have also been established in nine locations across the country and will be able to facilitate face-to-face meetings if needed.

About 100 jobs were lost as a result of the decision to shut the physical locations.
