Man arrested in connection with Regency Hotel shooting

A man in his 20s was detained in the north Dublin area this evening.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the Regency Hotel shooting in Dublin in February, gardaí have confirmed.

A man in his 20s was detained in the north Dublin area this evening.

David Byrne, an associate of the Kinahan crime gang, was shot dead in the attack on the northside of the city on Friday 5 February as a gang of six men staged an armed raid during a boxing weigh-in.

The attack kicked off the latest round of gangland violence in the city. Just days later Eddie Hutch, the brother of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, was shot dead in the Ballybough area.

The latest victim in the ongoing Kinahan-Hutch feud, dissident republican Michael Barr, was shot dead in the nearby Sunset House pub just over two weeks ago.

Gardaí said the man arrested this evening was being held at Ballymun Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
