Over 3,300 applications in 48 hours for 67 cost-rental apartments in Dublin

OVER 3,300 APPLICATIONS have been received in 48 hours for a total of 67 cost-rental apartments in Sandyford in Co Dublin.

Housing body Respond opened applications on Tuesday for the properties at Lisieux Park. Within 48 hours, there were 3,345 applications.

The apartments, which range from a studio to three-beds, have monthly rents set at between €1,183 and €1,591. They are available for rent by individuals and families who earn a net income of up to €66,000 per annum.

Applicants must not be in receipt of any social housing supports, must not own a property, and their household must match the size of the property advertised. Applicants must already be resident in Ireland.

The apartments are priced “at least 25% below market rates”, which Respond says is to provide “long term affordability and security of tenure”.

The housing units have been delivered in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and the Housing Finance Agency and The Housing Agency.

Spokesperson for Respond, Niamh Randall, said the body was “delighted” to open applications.

“They offer security and affordability to people who are struggling with high rents in Dublin. This is more than a housing development – it’s a community designed to help people thrive, supported by excellent local amenities, transport links and our dedicated on-site team,” she said.

The new homes form part of a wider 203 homes mixed tenure development.
