WITH A THATCHED roof, mature gardens and a charming wooden front door, River Cottage looks as if it has come straight out of a fairytale.
Located a short drive from Trim in Umberstown, Co Meath, the original house on the site was built in the 1770s and remained as such until the early 1900s, when it was rebuilt to its current form.

It has benefited from numerous updates over the years, including the addition of a condensing boiler, a water softener and a modern sewage treatment system, while the roof was re-thatched in the mid 1990s.
