What is a Mobile Mortgage Manager, anyway?
You’d be forgiven for wondering and no, it’s nothing to do with your mobile phone.
Meet John, a Mobile Mortgage Manager at permanent tsb, who spends his day-to-day making it easier for you to get the keys to your new home. (Yes, we like him already too).
At risk of stating the obvious, for a Mobile Mortgage Manager it’s all about the mobility. “It’s a really diverse day, meeting people in cafes, hotels, at your workplace, wherever people need really,” John explains.
This works well for couples who can arrange to meet John somewhere that suits them both, even if they work in different locations.
A bit of hand holding
First time buyers naturally feel an extra bit of pressure, with saving for a deposit and the increasing competition in the marketplace. Having a dependable and stable single point of contact who’s reachable even outside of banking hours can be really beneficial. Put simply, John says he offers “a bit of gentle hand holding”.
When it comes to those new to the mortgage game, Mobile Mortgage Managers can take advantage of the time they have with buyers and spread out the process into easily managed stages.
“It may seem like I’ve bombarded you with info in the first meeting,” he says, “but, I’ll be there to help you along and remind you what to do at each stage.”
Touching base along the way
Being there to offer reassurance when you’re up to your eyes is one of John’s most important jobs. “I’ll be there for you to touch base,” he says.
Any suggestions to help us get from here to that housewarming party, John? Keep your banking regular and keep on going.
“One of the things people get their approval from is a combination of their rent and savings and it’s important not to stop there,” John warns.
“Keep your rent and savings regular and up to date and avoid any unpaid or referral fees on your current account.”
Handling last-minute changes
John’s also there to help out with unexpected situations, like a house-hunter changing job mid-process. “You may be starting a new role on a probationary period, which won’t be recognised as a permanent job,” says John. “Talk to me first and make sure this won’t affect your chances of approval.”
The most rewarding thing about the job, in John’s eyes? Getting a text when buyers have closed and moved in.
“They’ll text saying thanks for everything,” he says. “Not just the approval, but for everything, the whole way through.”
When you’re making the decision to sell up or renovate, everyone will have their opinion – and won’t think twice about letting you know what it is. But how do you block out the noise and get to the point?
