LIDL IRELAND HAS secured 20 awards at the 2020 Great Taste Awards, winning 10 gongs for their premium Meat & Poultry range. Available exclusively at Lidl Ireland, Lidl’s Inisvale Irish Striploin Steaks and Sirloin Steaks, both matured for 30 days, were highly commended both securing a 1-star rating. Available for just €5.29, the judges praised the Striploin Steaks for their ‘tender but tasty cut’ and ‘succulent, juicy texture, with ageing that enhanced the flavour allowing for a rich and persistent beefy taste.’

Another judging panel favourite was Lidl’s luxury Deluxe duck range impressing the judges with two wins for the retailer’s Deluxe Crispy Roast Half Duck (€6.99) and Deluxe Duck Breasts (€5.99). A seasonal hit, the Crispy Roast Half Duck comes with pancakes and a rich and fruity Hoisin sauce, the perfect starter for an Asian-inspired feast. 

Other winners included Lidl’s Deluxe Stuffed Turkey Crown, Unsmoked Half Horse Show Ham Joint, and Premium Smoked Thick Cut Back Bacon. 

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. The Great Taste logo is one customer can trust when buying food and drink. More than 500 judges come together each year to define quality and excellence within the industry.
