Plus advice for exercising safely within your 5km radius.
3 tips for Marathon In A Month success
Whether you’re walking, running or jogging, get ready for your Marathon in a Month with this advice from coach Mary Jennings.
1. Start small
The key to running/walking success is to start small and build up a routine from there. Set aside 30 mins 3-4 times a week to get your body moving. It will help you feel good whilst helping a great cause too!
2. Set out a plan
Be realistic about the time you can dedicate.
See your June availability on one page and then add in your runs, jogs or walks. Looking at your plan on one sheet of paper makes it feel real and less daunting.
3. Make yourself accountable
Print out the plan, put it somewhere you will see it every day, and share your goal with friends and family. You might even encourage others in your house to join you or sponsor you.
Exercising safely within Covid-19 guidelines
In these uncertain times, the health and safety of our supporters is our top priority, so it is important when taking on Marathon in a Month to follow the guidelines provided by the HSE at this time, which include:
- Keeping your distance: Maintain a 2 metre distance from other people
- Staying local: within a 5km radius of your home
- Enjoying the outdoors respectfully
- If you are cocooning and wish to take part please only take on what can be done safely and in line with the public health guidelines which can be found here.
