VOLUNTEERS WITH CROSSHAVEN RNLI have saved eight people in four separate incidents since yesterday.
The first instance saw the RNLI respond to two girls cut off by the tide at Fountainstown yesterday afternoon.
The girls were rescued and did not require further medical assistance.
At 6.30pm yesterday evening, the RNLI crew were dispatched to a capsized dinghy with two people in the water on the Owenabue River at Drake’s Pool.
Once the volunteers arrived, it was discovered that it was two sailors practising their capsizing drills, and were actually not in any danger.
“A false alarm with good intent,” Crosshaven RNLI said in a statement.

At midday today, the Coast Guard asked the crew to respond to two people who’d fallen from a boat in the Tivoli area of Cork city.
Two casualties had been brought ashore. RNLI crew members gave casualty care to one person suffering from hypothermia and shock at the scene.
The fourth incident saw the crew attend to a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) just after 4pm today with two persons on board.
The boat had suffered engine problems and had drifted into one of the slipways of Haulbowline naval base.
The crew managed to refloat the vessel and return the boat and its occupants to Monkstown.
