Woman (20s) dies after her car strikes a lamppost in Co Mayo

It brings to three the number of people killed on our roads since Friday.

A WOMAN IN her twenties has died in a road crash in Co Mayo.

The incident occurred between 7.30am and 8am this morning on the N17, at Lurga, Charlestown.

Gardaí said the woman was fatally injured when her car collided with a lamppost and a pillar.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem is due to be carried out at Mayo General Hospital.

Traffic restrictions are in place at the scene.

It brings to three the number of people killed on roads in the Republic since Friday. Four people have died in crashes in Northern Ireland.
