Woman in her 70s killed when car collides with jeep

A second woman in her 70s received serious injuries.

A WOMAN IN her mid 70s was killed today when the car she was a passenger in collided with a jeep.

Gardaí in Bagenalstown, County Carlow are investigating the collision which occured at Kilcarrig, Bagenalstown, at around 2.45pm.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Carlow mortuary.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 70s has been removed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny with serious injuries.

The female driver of the jeep, who is in her 30s, has been taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road has re-opened after Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene.
