Motorcyclist dies after collision with car in Sligo

A woman and three children were in the car he collided with.

A MOTORCYCLIST HAS died after he collided with a car in Cliffoney, Sligo.

The incident happened on the N15 Sligo to Donegal Road at around 4pm yesterday evening.

The man (66) was seriously injured in the collision and he was pronounced dead at the scene before being taken to Sligo University Hospital.

The woman who was driving sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. Three children travelling in the car with her were uninjured.

The road is currently closed for a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.

It is expected to remain closed until lunchtime today.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Sligo Garda Station at 071 915 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
