Man dies after being hit by truck in Tipperary

The incident happened at 2.40pm today.

A man in his 60s has died in a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N24 at Townpark, Carrick On Suir this afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.40pm.

It is believed the man was fatally injured when he was struck by an articulated truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The section of road was closed for a time in order to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052-6177640, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
