Young woman killed in hit-and-run incident

A 17-year-old male has been arrested and questioned in relation with the incident.

A YOUNG WOMAN has died following a hit-and-run incident in Armagh.

This happened on the Monaghan Road shortly before 12.30pm yesterday.

19-year-old Lesley-Ann McCarragher, who was from the county, died following the hit-and-run.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested and is currently in police custody and assisting with inquiries.

Appealing to the public, Detective Inspector Brian Foster has asked for anyone who was on the Monaghan Road and may have witnessed the incident yesterday to get in contact with them.

They are also looking to speak to anyone who might have information about a white Saab car that was seen in the area at the time.

Police in Northern Ireland can be contacted on the non-emergency number of 101 or 048 90650222 for callers from the Republic of Ireland.
