Car recovered after armed robbery

There was nobody injured in the incident at Blakestown, Dublin.

GARDAÍ IN BLANCHARDSTOWN are investigating an armed robbery which saw a money box stolen from a cash-in-transit van early this morning.

The vehicle was raided shortly before 8am at Blakestown by two men armed with an iron bar and what is believed to have been an imitation gun.

A member of staff was threatened during the robbery before the suspects made their escape with the cash box.

Investigating Gardaí said a car has since been recovered and has been taken for technical examination.

There were no injuries sustained during the incident.

An appeal for witnesses has been made and anyone with information is asked to contact the local station on 01 666 7000.

A previous version of this article stated the cash had been recovered with the car but Gardaí have since advised it was just the vehicle found.
