Roscommon farmer killed by falling trailer

Death is third to occur on Irish farms so far this year.

A SIXTY FIVE year old man was killed on his farm on Monday evening after he became trapped under a piece of heavy machinery.

The tragic incident took place at Carnagh East, Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon.

The man appears to have died after a metal feed-trailer fell on him, according to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).

The HSA is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

A garda spokesman said he was pronounced dead at the scene and then brought to Roscommon General Hospital.

This is the the third death to occur on an Irish farm since the start of the year.
