A photographer came across this tiny nativity in an old phonebox while passing through Roscommon

That’s one way of repurposing an old phonebox, we suppose.

ONE OF THE greatest nativity recreations of 2017 was spotted earlier this week, when a dog kennel in the UK put on their own little nativity play.

But yesterday, a quintessentially Irish effort emerged that might just rival it.

While passing through Roscommon, photographer @magnumlady came across this wonderful scene

In an abandoned classic “Telefón” phonebox, a tiny nativity scene has been set up. That’s one way of repurposing them since nobody really uses payphones any more.

She tells DailyEdge.ie that she was driving along the road when she came upon it:

It’s outside a post office on the way from Boyle to Roscommon and usually has a child of Prague in it but there’s a nativity in it now.
I was just passing through but it’s great to see.

“Away in a phonebox in Roscommon, the little lord Jesus laid down his sweet head”
