Price Comparison: What can I buy in Co Roscommon for under €350,000?

Three in Castlerea and one in Ballinlough.

IN THE CURRENT property market, it’s tough to get a sense of what exactly your money is worth. But, we’re here to make things easier.

Each week, we handpick a number of homes within a similar budget in one location, to give you a snapshot of the property landscape at any given time.

This week, we’re looking at properties around Co Roscommon with an asking price of exactly €350,000 or under, three in Castlerea and one in Ballinlough.

Five-bed, detached, Castlerea – €275,000 

This large five-bed dormer bungalow that sits on half an acre site in the Roscommon countryside. Just one kilometre away is the N5, so it’s well-connected for the commuter and Ballaghaderreen town is just five kilometres away. With a floor area of 250 m², the rooms inside include a hallway, sitting room, a bedrooms and a dining room on the ground floor, along with a kitchen, utility and sunroom to the back of the house.

Four bedrooms sit upstairs; they all have bay windows and built-in wardrobes. The land includes two paddocks for anyone who likes to keep animals, plenty of parking and a detached garage. Not included in this sale but available to buy is another acre of land that has two hay sheds and three stables.

Three-bed, semi-detached, Castlerea – €170,000

If you’re on the hunt for a house that needs very little work, look no further than 19 St. Kevin’s, a three-bed home that’s a cosy 80 m² but completely new throughout. It’s also handily located in the Castlerea town centre. The kitchen is newly-fitted as are the double glazed windows, floors and carpets.

Costa Plenti is a large six-bed home, which includes a handy separate two-bed apartment in the converted, detached garage. The rooms in the main house include a hall that leads to two lounges,  a sun room that steps out onto the patio, a kitchen and also a utility room. One bedroom is on the ground floor with the remaining three above along with a family bathroom.

The house sits on .75  of an acre which includes mature gardens, hedging and plenty of parking. It’s a five minute drive from Cloonfad, ten minutes from Ballinlough and half an hour from Knock airport.

Spread over a generous 232 m², this dormer bungalow is just .3 km from Castlerea town centre. Located on a quiet a cul-de-sac, the house is ready to walk into and nicely finished throughout. The rooms inside include a modern fitted kitchen with a dining area that leads to the living room and sunroom. A utility room and a guest toilet completes the ground floor. 

Two of the five bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and two are on the ground floor, which is handy for guests or elderly family members. Three bedrooms and a family bathroom sit upstairs. The house is a 25 minute drive from Roscommon town and the same to Knock Airport. For commuters, however, there is a bus and a train station just five minutes away.
