Government to ramp up financial scrutiny of RTÉ, with C&AG to act as auditor
“The board is focused on returning RTE to levels of corporate governance and transparency that should define it,” Chairman Terence O’Rourke said.
A forensic accountant found that transactions were made from RTÉ barter accounts that had no valid basis.
It also found that spend on hospitality and travel was underreported to Ministers from 2017-2022.
The Minister announced that the C&AG will act as auditor of the organisation henceforth, and legislation on how the broadcaster is governed will be reformed.
